"When asked what I wanted to be when I grew up I always answered a vet or an artist. I now know that "grown up" is a relative term, and that I am much too over-emotional to be a vet... but I eventually got around to the artist idea.
I've always enjoyed working with my hands...seeing raw materials turned into a finished product, made by me, creates a feeling of productivity that no other process creates. Having worked with many other mediums from wood and glass to paper, and having always been obsessed with body adornment, I attended the North Bennet Street School's Jewelry Making and Repair program. There I created a lasting relationship with metal, stones and the possibilities they hold. Although I still create in other mediums, my passion and profession rests in jewelry making and metalwork. Learning can never be exhausted in metalwork, as there is always another way, another process, another technique, another style to master and improve on. My work evolves as I evolve and as I find inspiration in new things, ideas, and experiences. My days revolve around my work from awakening to sleep but I've never been happier or more excited about my life and the possibilities...oh the possibilities!"

Powder Mill Studio is the work of Renee Newton. Renee creates in her studio in Sudbury, Massachusetts. She is kept company by her husband Tom, her wonderful, beautiful baby boy Tailor Ray, & her four legged children Montee & Harper (the dogs), and Mia (the cat). She appreciates her family & friends who have supported her, & continue to do so, as she transitions into following her passion as a full-time career.
